Less Than Jake

Less Than Jake América es una banda de ska punk de Gainesville, Florida. Originalmente formado en 1992 como un trío de power pop (Chris Demakes, Shaun Grief y Vinnie Fiorello), la banda evolucionó hasta convertirse en un híbrido de tercera ola ska y punk rock, con adición de elementos de rock moderno e incluso metal. Hasta la fecha, el grupo ha publicado siete álbumes larga duración y una serie de singles y recopilaciones. La actual agrupación esta compuesta por guitarrista / vocalista Chris Demakes, el bajista / vocalista Roger Manganelli, baterista y letrista Vinnie Fiorello, trombonista Buddy Schaub, y el saxofonista JR.

Sublime !!!

Sublime, banda de ska, punk, reggae formada en 1988 en Long Beach, California (Estados Unidos), compuesta por Brad Nowell (voz y guitarra), Eric Wilson (bajo) y Bud Gaugh (batería). Alcanzaron fama con su tercer disco autotitulado («Sublime»), pero dos meses antes de su lanzamiento, Brad Nowell murió de una sobredosis de heroína y la banda se separa. Brad Nowell fallece el 25 de Mayo de 1996 a la edad de 28 años. Años más tardes, el perro de Brad, Lou Dog fallece en Marzo del año 2001 a la edad de 12 años

The mighty mighty bosstones

El primer aporte de este nuevo blog referido especialmente a esta tendencia musical llamada Ska, en este blog veremos con detencion los distintos grupos Ska del mundo, los precursores de la  nueva tendencia llamada tercera ola del Ska o Third wave, en donde se mezcla un poco el antiguo clasico Ska jamaicano e Ingles con el Punk. Un poco mas comercial pero no por eso, mas malo.

, La banda SKA-CORE The Mighty Mighty Bosstones se formó en 1985 en Boston, EE.UU., y en 1989 lanzó su álbum debut “Devil’s Night Out”. Aunque nunca lograron llegar al mercado comercial, el grupo encabezó el cambio del ska a un genero híbrido de fiesta high-energy, al añadir elementos del pop y el metal. En contraste con la mayoría de bandas de su tipo, los Bosstones mantuvieron algo de la propuesta política del ska, presentándose a menudo para causas locales. Su álbum de 1997, "Let´s Face It", se convirtió en disco de platino y generó el éxito "The Impression That I Get".
